Accurate and comparable measurements are necessary for a secure and demand oriented operation of electricity grids and for the correct billing of the supplied energy.
The laboratory for electrical energy and power offers calibration and test services in the fields:
• Electrical energy and power
• High voltage
• High current
• Power quality
• Transmission networks (e.g. Phasor Measurement Units (PMU)
In order to keep up with the pace of development, we are constantly refining our measurement facilities. With this aim in mind, we conduct various research and development projects.
Through independent type approval test, the laboratory verifies if a measuring instrument complies with the requirements of standards and ordinance. Based on the results of these tests, conformity assessments and type approvals are carried out.
Together with the sector Surveillance and Metrological Supervision the laboratory supervises the verification laboratories in the field of electrical energy. This helps to ensure that electrical energy or power is properly priced for consumer protection and fair trade in Switzerland.
Administrative requests regarding the verifications laboratories, as for example the management of the lots, have to be addressed at email@example.com.
With our calibration services, we ensure that your measuring instruments for dimensional measurements are traceable to the national measurement standards.
Our calibration certificates are recognised internationally. For this purpose, we operate a quality assurance system in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025.
Research and development
With the aid of research and development projects, we keep our measurement facilities and expertise at the forefront of technology. We thus ensure our ability to offer the required services and promote innovation in the years to come. In the course of this we work with other metrology institutes, universities and industry.
Our research activities concentrate actually on the development on calibration services for phasor measurement units (PM), power quality analysers and non-conventional instrument transformers.
